Features

RateServer® is a multi-mode freight rate and contract management system. It provides storage and reporting capabilities for rail, truck, and LTL modes (marine and pipeline modes to be added by Spring 2000).Geography and mileage templates are based on SPLC, zip code, custom company location code, or custom defined regions. Mileage source definitions include house-hold goods, Rand-McNally, ALK, or user-defined.

Rates can be based on mileage or point to point defined by the origin/destination pair, product or commodity class, equipment type, and quantity breaks. Rate escalation can be invoked at both contract and rate table levels. Versatile definition of rate types and units of measure allow creation of any type of rate scale desired. Assessorial charges addressed are:

         • Rebates and discounts
         • Standard and exception excess charges
         • Fuel surcharges
         • Rail switch charges

Updates which deal with contract and rate transactions record the user ID of the person invoking the update. Security can be set to limit access or update capability to a defined user group.

Freight accrual records created store the actual freight rate broken down into its base and assessorial components for direct payment or future audit.

RateServer® can serve as a modular component to provide rating capability to pricing, order entry, and billing systems. Stored procedures reside on the database and can be queried, independent of the RateServer® client side application to provide freight rates to other host systems. For instance, the pricing of an order entered into an order entry system can be rated at the moment the order is entered by tying record entry to a query of a RateServer® stored procedure.
